Update October 8th, 6:32AM ET: Added more to the list of browsers than can be set as default. Heres how to sync your bookmarks across devices between Safari and Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer. Click it and you’ll see a “Default Browser App” option if it’s default eligible. Just wondering if anyone has any evidence that one is better than the other from a performance or privacy standpoint. We have identified a leak of graphics resources in the Chrome browser related to the drawing of plugins on Mac OS X. But I heard chrome can use a lot of ram on older macs (mines knew though). We also downloaded a variety of other iOS browsers that are frequently recommended in “best iOS browsers” lists including Dolphin, Ghostery, and UC Browser, and found that they did not appear in the default browser selection menu. I know like safari isn't a supported site for so chrome tends to be better for it. Here’s a list of alternative default browsers we can confirm: All browsers are still required to use WebKit as their underlying browsing engine, meaning that the main differences between them will come down to their user interfaces and how they sync with other platforms, rather than how they fundamentally render web pages.
